Poppy a la Matisse
by marthalinkwalsh
Henri Matisse began his practice of paper cutting while recuperating in bed. According to his biography he said that finding this art form had solved his lifetime search of expressing the essence of a subject – a graphic sculpture.
It is very hard for me to cut to the chase in my paper-cut designs. Showing every detail to define the subject seems, for me, more accurate.
But there is something to be said for learning from the masters.

thanks!!!! I do too now that I can look at it “from a distance”. It is good for me to go outside my box sometimes.
This one is so much fun! The pop of color is great!
