It’s never too late to start thinking about Christmas. At least that’s the sentiment at the Martha Link Walsh Gallery in Branford, where all the light and joy of the holidays can be found from Friday, July 22 – Sunday, July 31 with an Opening Reception on Friday, July 22 from 5:30 – 7:30pm. Featured at this special Christmas exhibit will be a collection of Martha Link Walsh’s holiday-themed papercuttings, and paintings by Margaret B. Dean.
Specializing in commissioned original artwork, Martha creates unique, one-of-a-kind papercut art. Just as an author pens a story, Martha takes scissors to paper and captures the spirit of one’s life journey. She is a true storyteller, and her cuttings combine symbols and images in intricate groupings cut from a single piece of paper. “Christmas is filled with stories of family traditions, and mine is no exception,” she explains. “My Mom loved the holidays, and always started her preparations in July. This show is a tribute to the memory of how much she enjoyed the season and how special she made the holidays for me and my sister.”
Now you can enjoy Martha’s Mom’s tradition of Christmas in July. Stop by the Gallery to enjoy the art exhibit, sample Christmas cookies, see festive snowflakes and lights, and get a head start on your holiday shopping. Martha’s ornaments, Paper-cut Christmas books, and the new 2017 Calendar will be available for purchase.
Christmas in July will be held at the Martha Link Walsh Gallery, 188 North Main Street (Rte. 1), Branford, CT 06405. Refreshments served. Please contact Martha at 203-481-3505 for more information, or visit http://www.marthalinkwalsh.com.
